Hiking Hummocks Trail to Loowit Viewpoint

As fall has arrived, the colors on the leaves and trees are changing and we, just like everybody else enjoy viewing the fall colors! On Saturday October 8, we were looking for a nice day hike to do within an hour and a half. We landed on this trail, starting from the Hummocks Loop Trailhead. We split off the Hummocks Trail toward the Johnston Ridge Observatory but finishing at the Loowit Viewpoint (it's only an extra half mile each way to get to the Johnston Ridge Observatory). I'm guessing the hike we did was about 6.5 miles round trip.

Unfortunately, this was not a great hike for fall colors, as we found mostly dead plants instead, however, I think that scared everyone else away. We saw only one other couple on the entire hike!
